The I.S. 223 Running Team comprises students from the sixth grade through college. The team runs year-round: on weekends and during the summer months. The I.S. 223 Team has built an outstanding reputation throughout the five boroughs. Within the last few weeks members of the team paced a Staten Island Track Association member for a few miles during his 50-mile race and during the holiday week they ran in Prospect Park alongside members of the Run for Chinatown Team. Through a generous NYRR grant and the support of the I.S. 223 staff each year, twenty-plus I.S. 223 attend a week-long sleep-away running camp in upstate New York.
